3R: Road to Recovery, Reduce Stigma associated with Mental Illness

In addition to what have been covered in the Stigma Free Campaign (eg social anxiety, bipolar disorder & schizophrenia), this talk presents the voice, the narrative of individuals in recovery from mental illness. The highlights of the talk are:
1. Stigma: “Who cares?” “Where does it come from?”
2. Road to recovery: Personal recovery story
3. Reducing stigma: “Who can do what in a university environment?”
4. Discussion and sharing

Speakers:
Dr Samson Tse, Associate Professor, Director of Master of Social Sciences Counselling Programme, has taught and done research in mental health for almost 20 years, both in New Zealand and Hong Kong (since 2009).
Ms Alice Kan, person in recovery. She is currently working as a consultant at CARITAS Wellness Link. She has also been working with Department of Social Work and Social Administration, HKU and University of Kansas to coordinate and promote the “Strengths Model of Case Management”.
